About Us
From an English Teacher to an Electric Skateboard Founder
My name is Jianhui Duan, but most people know me as Vic.
Back in 2017, I wasn’t running an electric skateboard company.
I was an English teacher in Shenzhen, operating a small training school called Hollywood English. Teaching was my life back then.
One morning in October, while I was giving a lesson to a middle school student, a couple in their forties walked into the classroom. They wanted to learn English.
When I asked why, their answer changed my life.
They told me they had once co-founded what later became a top electric skateboard brand in the industry. Because they didn’t speak English, they were limited to assembly and manufacturing — and eventually pushed out of the business.
Now, they wanted to start again. This time, with English.
I was fascinated. We talked for a long time.
A few days later, they came to class and brought something with them — an electric skateboard.
That night, after finishing classes at 9 p.m., I took the board to a nearby park.
It was my first time ever riding a skateboard. No one taught me. I stepped on, wobbled a few times, and quickly figured it out.
A few hundred meters later, on my way back, the board hit a tree branch.
I lost balance, fell forward, and my face slid across the ground.
My face and knees were badly scraped.
Strangely, I didn’t feel pain.
The excitement — the freedom, the wind, the speed — completely overwhelmed everything else.
I got back on the board and rode for more than an hour.
That was the night I became a rider.
I still remember that feeling vividly — the wind rushing past my ears, the sense of freedom, the pure joy.
From then on, I rode every single day. After lunch, instead of taking a nap, I’d go to the park and ride for over an hour. Slowly, the skateboard became not just a hobby, but my daily transportation.
Seeing how deeply I fell in love with riding, that couple began talking to me about building a brand together.
That’s how Verreal was born.
Built by a Rider, Not a Marketing Team
Verreal has always been a small operation — and we are proud of that.
Before we release any new board, I personally ride it for hundreds, sometimes thousands of kilometers.
If there’s a problem, we fix it.
If it’s not ready, we don’t launch it.
Our range numbers are honest.
They are based on real-world riding, not ideal lab conditions where everything has to be perfect to match the spec sheet.
For our core components, we never compromise:
- Motors from top-tier suppliers in the industry
- Controllers known for stability, reliability, and smooth performance
- Batteries using either premium imported cells or automotive-grade domestic cells
Why choose higher-cost components?
Because I am a rider first.
Cheap electronics don’t just reduce lifespan — they completely change how a board feels.
And once you’ve experienced a smooth, stable, predictable ride, there’s no going back.
Peace of Mind Matters More Than Peak Numbers
Today, electric skateboarding is more competitive than ever.
Verreal boards may not claim the most aggressive specs on paper.
But what we promise is something more important:
Peace of mind.
A board you can trust.
A ride that feels proven, not experimental.
Performance that works in real life, not just in ads.
We believe great electric skateboards shouldn’t be a luxury for a few.
In Chinese, we call this “国民滑板” — boards made for real people, real riders, and real daily use.
That belief has never changed.
Our Commitment
We will continue to listen, improve, and build better boards — step by step.
And we welcome every rider’s feedback, ideas, and suggestions.
Because Verreal is not just a brand.
It’s a journey — started by a teacher, shaped by a fall, and driven by countless miles on the road.
Ride further. Ride honestly. Ride with peace of mind.
