Is an electric skateboard waterproof? Verreal electric skateboards are designed to be water resistant, not waterproof. The enclosure and ports are sealed against splashes, damp roads and humid air, but the board is not made to be ridden in rain, through puddles or in standing water.

Waterproof vs water resistant
- Waterproof means a product can be submerged or sprayed with water and keep working. Electric skateboards with exposed bearings, motors and charge ports are not built to that standard.
- Water resistant means a product has layers of protection that help it survive splashes, light moisture and humidity.
Verreal boards are in the second group. As stated on our product pages, they are not waterproof, riding on wet surfaces is not recommended for safety reasons, and water damage is not covered under warranty.
How Verreal builds water resistance
1. A custom-molded enclosure
Our battery enclosure is not a generic box. It is molded to match the exact concave curvature and contours of the skateboard deck, so the deck and enclosure fit together with minimal gaps before any seal is applied.
2. A compressive 4 mm silicone gasket
Between the deck and the enclosure sits a 4 mm thick silicone gasket. When the enclosure is fastened with screws, the gasket is compressed evenly and locks into the seam, forming a resilient, water-resistant barrier.
3. Multi-stage port sealing
Every external opening gets layered protection:
- The switch, charge port and motor wire openings are fitted with silicone plugs or grommets.
- Each port is then reinforced inside with hot-melt adhesive, which creates a second, vibration-resistant seal against moisture.
The result
Tailored engineering, compressive sealing and redundant protection at every opening give the board a good level of water resistance against splashes and humid conditions. That helps protect the electronics and the battery, which extends the life of the board.
What water resistance does not cover
- Do not ride in rain, through puddles, or across flooded or standing water.
- Avoid wet or slippery roads. Wet surfaces also reduce grip and braking, which is a safety risk on its own.
- Do not wash the board with a hose or pressure washer, and never submerge it.
What to do if your board gets wet
- Switch the board and remote off.
- Wipe the deck, trucks, wheels and enclosure dry.
- Make sure the charge port and connectors are completely dry before you charge or store the board.
- Let the board dry in a warm, ventilated room, and do not use a hot hair dryer on the enclosure.
- If anything behaves oddly afterwards, stop riding and contact support.

Can I ride my electric skateboard in the rain?
We do not recommend it. Verreal boards resist splashes and humidity, but they are not waterproof, and wet roads reduce traction and braking.
Is water damage covered by the warranty?
Our product pages state that water damage is not covered under warranty. Keep the board dry to protect both your safety and your warranty.
Does the board have an IP rating?
We do not publish an IP waterproof rating for our boards, so please do not treat them as rated for submersion or rain.
What if I ride through a small puddle by accident?
Stop, switch everything off, dry the board thoroughly and check the charge port and connectors before you charge it. If you are unsure, contact support.
