Best Affordable Long Range Electric Skateboards: Range Per Dollar Compared

Verreal RS Pro Max long range electric skateboard with 90mm PU wheels

The best affordable long range electric skateboard is the one that gives you the most rated range for each dollar, without cutting corners on the parts that keep you safe. Among Verreal boards, the F1 Max with the 15Ah pack has the lowest price per kilometer at $569 for a rated 55 km (34 mi), and the RS Pro Max with the 23.2Ah pack gives the longest rated range, 73 km (45 mi), for $1,049.

"Affordable" does not have to mean "cheapest sticker price". A $329 board with a 14 km (8.7 mi) battery can cost more per kilometer than a $569 board that goes nearly four times as far. This guide shows the numbers for every Verreal board, then explains how to run the same math on any board you are considering.

Range per dollar: every Verreal board compared

We list the lowest-priced configuration of each battery option (lowest-priced wheel option, standard charger). Price per km uses the lower end of the rated range where a board lists a range, so no board is flattered.

How to read the table

Price per km shows what you pay for distance

Divide the price by the rated range. A lower number means more distance for your money. The entry battery shows why this matters: the F1 Max with the 4Ah pack is $329 for 14 km (8.7 mi), or about $23.50 per km. The 15Ah pack costs $240 more but works out to about $10.35 per km, so the bigger battery is the cheaper way to ride far.

Price per Wh shows what you pay for energy

Watt-hours (Wh) measure how much energy the battery stores. Unlike amp-hours (Ah), Wh already includes the battery voltage, so it compares fairly across boards. Price per Wh also ignores differences in rider weight, speed and terrain that affect real range.

Top speed and power change the picture

The two hub-motor boards (F1 Max and Mini) lead on price per km, but they top out at 40 km/h (about 25 mph) and carry a lower maximum rider weight: 100 kg (220 lb) for both. The belt-drive RS family has a 150 kg (330 lb) maximum load, faster top speeds on the Pro, Pro Max and Ultra, and a double kingpin truck for carving. It also accepts a wide range of wheels, from 90mm PU wheels to 150mm pneumatic and 165mm Rover wheels.

The best affordable long range picks

1. Verreal F1 Max 15Ah: lowest cost per km

The F1 Max has quiet hub motors, a Hobbywing ESC with regenerative braking, three speed modes (20, 30 and 40 km/h, or 12.4, 18.6 and 24.9 mph) and a drop-down concave deck. It is listed at 7.5 kg (16.5 lb). The 15Ah pack (10S3P, 555 Wh) lists a 55 km (34 mi) range for $569. Verreal's F1 Max range figures come from tests with a 150 lb (68 kg) rider in the first speed mode on flat roads with no wind and a full battery, so expect less in the fastest mode or on hills.

2. Verreal Mini 15Ah: the most compact long-range option

The Mini is listed at 7 kg (15.4 lb) and has a kicktail for quick turns. The 15Ah pack (10S3P, 555 Wh) lists 55 km (34 mi) for $599. It is a compact 762 mm (30 in) board with a 100 kg (220 lb) maximum load. Verreal states that the Mini is not waterproof, so keep it off wet roads.

3. Verreal RS Pro Max: the most range for a belt-drive board

The RS Pro Max uses dual Hobbywing 5255 motors, Verreal's own FOC ESC and EVE 50E 21700 cells. The 20Ah pack (12S4P, 888 Wh) lists 65 km (40 mi) for $999. The 23.2Ah pack (1,002 Wh) lists 73 km (45 mi) for $1,049, which is the lowest price per Wh in the RS family. Top speed is listed at 50-53 km/h (31-33 mph), and the top speed can be locked at 20 km/h (12.4 mph) for areas with speed limits.

4. Verreal RS and RS Neo: the lower-cost belt-drive entry points

The RS starts at $799 with a 740 Wh pack and a listed range of 50+ km (31+ mi). The RS Neo starts at $899 with a 740 Wh pack, a 53 km (33 mi) listed range, Hobbywing 5255 motors and the same 20 km/h speed lock as the Pro Max.

Where the RS Ultra and RS Pro fit

The RS Ultra is built around power: dual 6374 motors and Molicel P42A cells rated for 30A continuous discharge each. Its 726 Wh pack lists 53 km (33 mi), so you pay for performance rather than for range per dollar. The RS Pro is offered with a 15Ah or 20Ah pack and a 45-50 km/h (28-31 mph) top speed. If range per dollar is your priority, the 20Ah RS Pro or the RS Pro Max is the better value of the two.

How to judge any "affordable" long range board

  1. Compare watt-hours, not amp-hours. Ah alone ignores voltage. Multiply volts by amp-hours, or look for the Wh figure.
  2. Divide price by rated range, and treat the answer as a best case. Rated range is measured in ideal conditions, so plan trips with a safety margin.
  3. Check who tested the range and how. Look for the rider weight, speed mode and terrain behind the number.
  4. Check the rider weight limit and speed modes. A long-range board that does not suit your weight or skill is not good value.
  5. Read the warranty and return policy. Verreal offers a 180-day limited warranty covering motors, ESC and remote, battery pack and charger. Electric skateboards cannot be returned because of battery shipping restrictions, so choose your model carefully.
  6. Add the cost of wear parts and extras. Wheels, belts and bearings wear out and are not covered by warranty. See our electric skateboard price guide.

Why real range is lower than rated range

  • Rider weight. Heavier riders use more energy.
  • Speed mode. Riding faster draws more power from the battery.
  • Hills and headwinds. Climbing and riding into wind both cut range.
  • Wheels. The RS lists its 90mm PU wheel option as the maximum efficiency setup, so other wheel sizes may trade some range for comfort or grip.
  • Battery condition and temperature. Read our battery care guide to keep your range consistent.

Long range electric skateboard FAQ

What is the most affordable long range electric skateboard?

By rated range per dollar, the Verreal F1 Max with the 15Ah battery is the most affordable at $569 for 55 km (34 mi). If you need 70 km or more, the RS Pro Max with the 23.2Ah battery lists 73 km (45 mi) for $1,049.

How far can an electric skateboard go on one charge?

It depends on the battery size, rider weight, speed and terrain. Verreal's rated ranges run from 14 km (8.7 mi) on the smallest F1 Max and Mini battery up to 73 km (45 mi) on the largest RS Pro Max battery.

Is a bigger battery always better?

A bigger battery gives more range, but it adds cost and charging time. The RS comes with a 3A charger and lists 5-7 hours for a full charge, and the RS Pro offers an optional 6A fast charger that cuts charging to about 2-3 hours.

Are cheap long range electric skateboards reliable?

Price alone does not predict reliability. Check the ESC and cell brands, the warranty length and whether the seller supplies replacement parts. The Verreal F1 Max and Mini use Hobbywing ESCs, and the RS Neo and RS Pro Max use EVE 50E 21700 cells.

Can I upgrade the battery later?

Replacement and upgrade battery packs are sold in our electric skateboard batteries collection. Check that the pack matches your board before ordering.

Bottom line

For the lowest cost per kilometer, choose a 15Ah F1 Max or Mini. For the longest range on a stronger, belt-drive platform, choose the RS Pro Max. Browse the full Verreal electric skateboard range, or contact our team if you want help picking a battery size for your commute.
